Daughter to James and Victoria Eldie (McClendon) Drinkard
Victoria Drinkard (named after her mother, Victoria McClendon, and her grandmother, Victoria Hansom) was born in Georgia on October 14, 1893. According to the 1900 Georgia Census, she was attending school at age 7. She married Namon Caesar, the son of Jackson and Alice Caesar. Namon was born in Georgia on February 28, 1885, and had 9 siblings: John, James, Mack, Hattie, Sarah, Artis, Nebutuego, Abbie, and Rufus. In 1900, he lived with his parents who worked on rented farm #142 in Cedar Springs, Early County, Georgia; and could read and write. Namon's mother was born in Tennessee and his father was born in Georgia.
According to the 1880 U.S. Census, Namon's parents were farm hands who lived in the 1140th Militia District, Early County, GA. According to the 1870 U.S. Census, Namon's father, Jackson Caesar, was living in Blakely, Georgia with his parents Joe and Rose Caesar, a farm laborer and housewife, both born in South Carolina. Namon was drafted in WWI. His FHL Roll Number is 1557029. He died on June 6, 1948 at 64 years old in Early, GA.
In 1930, Namon and Victoria lived with 6 of their children at 198 Central Place Apt 113 in the City of Orange, New Jersey, District 575, Essex County. They rented the residence for $23. Both could read and write.
Jennie Beatrice (Caesar) Dixon [4th GEN] recounted the following to one of her grandchildren (Angela Byam [6th GEN]): After the family traveled by horse and carriage to New Jersey, our father, Namon Caesar, had to go back to Georgia regarding some business with the land. He never returned. The family thinks that he was killed.
Frank Miles, Sr. (Ula (Caesar) Miles' son) recounted the following: Two of Jack Caesar's son (Namon's brothers or Namon and one of his brother's) got into some trouble in Georgia and this prompted Jack Caesar to sell some of the family's land in an effort to keep his sons out of further trouble. It also was the impetus for Namon & Victoria to relocate with their children to New Jersey.
